Greyson is a 3-year-old boy from Butte County, California, and this is his story.

When Greyson was just one year old, a simple game of Pat-A-Cake took a terrifying turn. He suddenly stopped breathing for 30 seconds, and his parents were left shaken and searching for answers.

Weeks later, Greyson had another scare. He vomited while watching TV at daycare, then soon after experienced episodes of staring spells. On a Monday morning, while eating breakfast in his high chair, Greyson suddenly pressed his fist to his forehead in pain, his face tense as his little body trembled. His mom rushed him to the ER, certain he was having seizures.

On the way to the hospital, Greyson had multiple seizures and continued to vomit. Doctors ran tests, but the results kept coming up negative. Finally, after an EEG captured the seizures, an MRI revealed the devastating truth: Greyson had a large, diffuse, low-grade glial brain tumor. His mom, eight months pregnant at the time, remembers the overwhelming fear of facing this diagnosis while preparing to welcome another child.

Three weeks later, Greyson began chemotherapy in California. But when seizures could not be controlled with medication, his family traveled to Boston Children’s Hospital, where surgeons removed as much of the tumor as possible. Treatment continued with more chemotherapy and seizure medicine to bring him some relief.

Today, Greyson continues to fight bravely. His last seizure was in April, and he goes to the hospital every three months for sedated MRIs to monitor his tumor. He also attends therapies to help with left-sided weakness, partial vision loss, and challenges with decision-making and emotional regulation caused by tumor removal in his temporal lobe.

Despite it all, Greyson’s spirit shines. He loves his baby brother, cars, cuddles, and dreams of being a superhero! Spider-Man!

“It is difficult to watch him struggle,” his mom shares. “We want him to be happy and to experience some magic. He has a sweet soul.”

We’re raising $5,500 to send Greyson and his family on a Dream Trip to Disney World and Give Kids The World a whimsical place where kids can escape treatments and hospital walls, where laughter, wonder, and magical moments fill the day, and where Greyson can just be a kid and experience childhood the way it’s meant to be full of joy, play, and unforgettable memories.
